Monetary Benefits

As a member, you are eligible for death benefits for yourself, your spouse, and your dependent children. Additionally, dismemberment benefits, hardship benefits, and hardship loans are available to you. Scholarships may be awarded to you and your dependent children. Members also enjoy a 5% discount in the Benefit Association store on most items.

Events

Also, as a KCSEBA member you are invited to attend free or reduced cost activities scheduled throughout the year such as the annual picnic and Christmas Party, just to name a couple.

Distribution of Funds

All funds raised by or contributed to the KCSEBA are controlled and distributed by an Executive Board made up of members of the association. All board members are employees or retired employees of the Kern County Sheriff’s Department.

  • $3,000 benefit for death of member ($6,000 if accidental)*

  • $1,500 benefit for death of member’s spouse*

  • $1,000 benefit for death member’s dependent child*

  • Upon serious illness or death of a member or immediate family member, a card or floral offering will be sent

  • Hardship benefits

  • College scholarships for members and member’s dependent children

  • Free or reduced cost sponsored events

  • Retirement plaque of appreciation for retirees

  • Financial support of charitable organizations and events that involve members of the department

    *Members must be a member in good standing for one year to be eligible to receive death/dismemberment benefits with the exception of accidental death/dismemberment.
